Sri Lanka’s Hiran Abeysekera has won the Best Actor award at the 2022 Olivier Awards in London.

Hiran Abeysekara won the Best Actor award for his adaptation of the play ‘Life of Pi’. The play Life of Pi was named Best New Drama and won several technical prizes.

Speaking after receiving the award, Hiran said, “I am presenting this award to my native Sri Lanka.

“Now Sri Lanka is in a tough situation and I think it should have been there now,” he said.

Hiran was educated at Nalanda College, Colombo and holds a Diploma from the Lanka Children’s and Youth Theater Foundation.
