WHILE, Waspada.co.id – Hundreds of honorary teachers from Langkat urge the North Sumatra Police to immediately arrest and detain the Head of the Langkat Education Office in a case of alleged corruption in the implementation of the 2023 Langkat PPPK.

LBH Medan as the legal representative of the honorary teachers said that the alleged corruption case has named 5 suspects. However, until now no one has been arrested or detained.

“This clearly raises big questions from struggling teachers and the community. How can 5 suspects of alleged corruption not be detained?,” said LBH Medan Director Irvan Saputra, in a press statement received on Wednesday (25/9).

What’s worse, continued Irvan, according to the teachers, when there are people who commit theft, fraud and so on, they are immediately arrested and detained.

“But, why is it clear that the suspect of alleged corruption and suspected of taking public money and harming teachers but not detained. This raises a new question, what’s wrong with the North Sumatra Regional Police?” he said.

According to Irvan, once again the North Sumatra Police have made the worst history in enforcing the law on corruption. This will clearly create a negative perspective of the community, especially teachers, towards the North Sumatra Police.

“It should be noted that the PPPK problem is not only in Langkat, but also in Madina and Batu Bara. However, law enforcement is different and selective because suspects in other areas are detained but not in Langkat,” he said.

Therefore, LBH Medan firmly requests the North Sumatra Police Chief and the Directorate of Special Crimes to immediately arrest and detain the five suspects as mandated in Articles 17, 18 and 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“If this is not done, it is possible that the suspects could escape, remove evidence and commit other crimes,” he concluded.

Irvan also revealed that the teachers had returned to their 7th action by strongly criticizing the North Sumatra Regional Police and urging the Head of the Office, BKD and other suspects to be immediately arrested and detained.

“If this is not done, it will harm the law and justice for teachers,” he stressed.

For information, in the alleged corruption case of PPPK Langkat, the North Sumatra Police have named 5 suspects, namely the Head of the Langkat Education Office with the initials SA, the Head of the BKD with the initials ESD, the Head of Student Affairs for Elementary Schools at the Langkat Education Office with the initials AS, and two Principals with the initials A and RN.
