Today, Thursday, August 8th, according to the Saints’ Calendar, we honor the memory of Saint Myron, Bishop of Crete, and New Martyr Triandafyllos from Zagora.
Saint Triandafyllos is a new martyr of the Orthodox Christian Church, whose memory is celebrated on August 8th. On this day, those named Triandafyllos and Triandafyllia celebrate.
Triandafyllos was from Zagora in Pelion and worked as a sailor. On August 8, 1680, while in Constantinople, he was beheaded in the Hippodrome for refusing to convert and become a Muslim.
A part of his relics is located in the Monastery of Saint Nicholas on the island of Andros.
