Runaway cavalry horses wreaked havoc in central London. Thus, residents of the British capital this morning, April 24, were shocked by the sight of horses galloping through the city center.

The Ministry of Defense later confirmed that the animals belonged to the department and escaped during the training, throwing off their riders and scattering throughout the city.

The horses were saddled and had harnesses. The escape occurred during a rehearsal for a parade marking the birthday of King Charles III. The animals belong to the British Army Cavalry Regiment, which, in particular, takes part in ceremonial events, including the coronation of British monarchs.

Five horses immediately ran through the central streets of the British capital. Photos showed one animal bleeding after being hit by several cars and cut by broken glass.

“All the horses were caught and returned to the camp. Several staff members and several horses were injured and are receiving necessary medical care,” the ministry said in a statement.

The cavalry regiment suggested that the horses could have been frightened by the noise from construction work taking place near the stables.

Animals caused several accidents at once. So, one of the horses broke the windows of a taxi. Big Bus Tours said a horse crashed into one of their buses this morning.

According to preliminary information, a total of five people were injured by horses in three different areas of London. Several animals also suffered minor injuries and are receiving veterinary care.

Cursor previously wrote that two vultures were thought to be dead, but they were simply drunk.
