Natalie Rodriguez, a resident of the city of Odessa (Texas), in a telephone interview with The Epoch Times, spoke about what she experienced when her daughter Nayeli was admitted to the city Medical Center with suspected coronavirus infection.
Before that, Nayeli developed breathing difficulties, and when her mother came with her to a therapist, it turned out that the girl’s blood oxygen level was about 87% – much lower than normal. The doctor sent Nayeli to the hospital for further testing, which showed the presence of a viral infection.
“When they took my daughter to the lab for testing, they put a tight-fitting transparent plastic bag over her head, turned off the oxygen tank that helps her breathe, and told her to wear a mask under the bag,” Rodriguez continued. – I burst into tears and asked the nurse why they put a bag on my daughter’s head, and she replied that this was required by the “hospital protocol”. In addition, they forgot to reconnect the oxygen tank, and it became difficult for her daughter to breathe, Rodriguez added. The girl sat with this bag in the emergency department for about 25 minutes, then she was transferred to the intensive care unit, and two weeks later she was discharged from the hospital. However, Nayeli still suffers emotionally and developed PTSD, Rodriguez wrote in a complaint to the state health department.
“We are delighted that my mother brought this situation to our attention,” said Russell Tippin, the hospital’s medical director. “The safety and health of our patients remains our top priority. We are always ready to listen to the opinion of patients in order to make their stay in the hospital more comfortable. “
