Hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan will open up new opportunities for renewable energy.

As Day.Az reports, economist-expert Eyyub Karimli told Trend about this on Monday.

According to him, important work is being carried out in Azerbaijan to create a clean environment.

“Holding this event in our country will open up new opportunities in the field of renewable energy and have a positive impact on the investment climate in this area. So the interest of large companies operating in this area will be focused on our country.

This will also have a major impact on the growth of our country’s green energy potential and exports in the future. The contribution of COP29 to our country’s green energy policy will be very significant. Azerbaijan also cooperates with international structures in the field of green energy. Work in this direction is being carried out very quickly.

In the priorities envisaging the socio-economic development of our country until 2030, the main directions are a clean environment and the transition to green energy. It is expected to increase the share of alternative and renewable energy in the total energy produced to 40 percent. Azerbaijan is one of the countries with high potential in the field of renewable energy sources,” the expert noted.

According to him, COP29 is also a political event.

“Holding COP29 in Azerbaijan will increase the prestige of our country in the international arena,” E. Karimli added.
