Hotel ⁢Collapse ⁢in Western Germany Leaves ⁤One Dead, ​Eight Trapped

At least ⁣one person has died ⁢and⁣ eight remain trapped after a hotel ⁤partially collapsed in western Germany.

The collapse ⁢was reported by the police of⁢ the city of Trier, citing information from TASS news ‍agency.

The ​incident occurred on Wednesday⁤ night in the town of Kröff in the​ federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, approximately 50 km northeast ⁢of Trier.

According to the police, the supports of‍ one ‌of the floors of the building collapsed.​ At the time of the⁢ emergency, there were 14 people in the hotel, five of⁤ whom were able to escape on their own. “According⁣ to the information available at the moment, nine people are under the​ rubble. One of them has‌ died, but the body has not yet been removed. Eight‌ people, ⁢including those with serious injuries, are trapped in the building,” the police⁣ said‌ in a statement.

Thirty-one people ‌were evacuated from ​neighboring buildings. The threat of further ⁢collapse ⁤complicates ⁤rescue operations. Approximately 250 police officers, firefighters, rescue workers, and medics are on site. Rescuers were able to establish contact with some of the people‍ under the rubble.
