Hotel Safi apologizes to young man for denying him entry with a guide dog

After a young woman with visual impairment reported an act of discrimination in it Hotel Safi, The administration apologized.

It should be remembered that the account of TikTok @solosary -in the name of the young woman Sarahi Cruz Nava– denounced the past December 16 who suffered an act of discrimination in the property located in the center of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

The visually impaired girl indicated that she went to that hotel with her co-workers to go to a Christmas inn, but she was denied entry because she had her guide dog.

Cruz Nava told the staff that it was his guide dog – named “Odin”- who had to be with her at all times and could not leave him outside as they requested to enter the place.

The case went viral, although in the end the staff let the young woman enter with “Odin”, but the next day elements of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), in addition to state and municipal authorities, arrived at the site to carry out an inspection.

It would not be until yesterday, December 18, that the Hotel Safi issued a statement in this regard in which they stated that they understand that guide dogs are essential to guarantee accessibility for people with disabilities.

“We offer our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience we have caused to Sary Cndue to the waiting time. We appreciate that you visited us and that we had the opportunity to serve you in one of our restaurants on December 16,” the statement reads.

In addition to that, the management of Hotel Safi was committed to improving and providing a better experience for visitors and that is why “we received a visit from the authorities on December 17 in order to reinforce our compliance with the rules and regulations for guide dogs and of assistance.”
