Weightlifter ⁢Hou Zhihui Defends Title at Paris Olympics

Paris, August 7 (Xinhua) – Weightlifter Hou Zhihui of China defended her​ title today ‍in ​the women’s ⁣49-kilogram division at the Paris ​Olympic Games.

The ⁢27-year-old athlete​ lifted ‌89 kilograms in⁤ the snatch and set an Olympic record in the ⁢clean and⁢ jerk with 117 kilograms, achieving ⁢a winning total of 206 ‍kilograms.

This marks the⁤ second gold medal for ​the Chinese weightlifting‍ team at Paris 2024, ‍following Li Fabin’s victory in the men’s 61-kilogram category earlier​ in the day.

Silver and bronze went to:

Romanian ⁢Mihaela Valentina Cambei‍ with 205 kilograms
⁢ Thai Surodchana‍ Khambao with 200 kilograms
