The world reached a peak of horror on October 7, 2023. Armed and supported by the Iranian regime, Hamas terrorists threw Israel into fear by massacring women, children, old people… 1,400 people were murdered, 240 other hostage-takings, because they were Jewish.
The names Be’eri, Nir Oz, Kfar Aza evoked quiet kibbutzs on the internationally recognized territory of Israel. They are now associated with scenes of unbearable savagery, recorded by the terrorists themselves or by surveillance cameras. The Supernova music festival brought together young people who loved music and freedom. It will go down as one of the worst tragedies in Israeli history: around 270 dead and more than 35 kidnapped or missing for this simple festival.

Heinous crimes followed by another, this one against the spirit: relativization. Faced with the desire of some to minimize this pogrom of the 21st century, the special envoys of Point investigated in the field. They collected hundreds of testimonies. They returned to Sderot, to the Supernova festival site, to Kfar Aza, to Be’eri. They viewed all the images available, even the most unbearable.

A day of infamy

In Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, they met traumatized survivors and grieving relatives of the missing. They interviewed military experts and ordinary citizens who became heroes, like this Arab Israeli taxi driver, who saved dozens of festival-goers, or this retired general, who returned to service and helped liberate a kibbutz held for several hours by Hamas. Meticulous work in order to document in the most precise way possible – while awaiting the work of historians – this day of October 7. In a story in three episodes, our special correspondents retrace, hour by hour, a day of infamy:
Part 1: And Hamas stormed the “iron wall”
Part 2: “Mom, they are here”
3e partie :
