Saudi Arabia called on Sunday for “maximum restraint and distancing the region and its people from the dangers of war,” following the Israeli strike on Houthi targets in the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah on Saturday, the day after the Yemeni Ansar Allah group claimed responsibility for a drone attack that killed one person in Tel Aviv.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the Kingdom “is following with great concern the developments of the military escalation in Yemen after the Israeli attacks that took place in the Hodeidah Governorate… which exacerbate the current tension in the region and harm the ongoing efforts to end the war on Gaza.”

The Kingdom urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and keep the region and its people away from the dangers of war, calling on the international community and influential parties to assume their roles and responsibilities to end conflicts in the region, according to the statement.

“The secret of the refueling plane”.. How did Israel succeed in striking Yemen from a distance of about 2,000 kilometers?

Israeli warplanes bombed oil tanks and a power station in the western Yemeni city of Hodeidah on Saturday, killing and wounding dozens, a day after Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone attack that killed one person in Tel Aviv on Friday.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the Kingdom’s continued efforts to end the war on Gaza, and its continued support for peace efforts in Yemen to spare its people further suffering and achieve security and peace in the region.

This is the first overt Israeli strike on Yemen, from which the Houthis launch missile and drone attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, which they say are linked to Israel, or heading to its ports.

Saudi Defense Ministry spokesman Turki al-Maliki denied on Saturday rumors that the kingdom had allowed Israel to use its airspace to bomb the Houthis.

Al-Maliki said, “The Kingdom has no relation or participation in targeting Hodeidah, and the Kingdom will not allow its airspace to be violated by any party.”
