Speaking during the work of the PARLACEN General Assembly, which was held by videoconference, Mr. Lakhrif reviewed the milestones in relations between the House of Advisors and PARLACEN, which were crowned by the decision to grant the Moroccan Parliament, until then an observer member, the status of advanced partner, during the meeting of the President of the House, Enaam Mayara, with the President and members of the executive office of the Central American parliament, on February 14, 2022, the House of Advisors said in a press release.
Mr. Lakhrif also congratulated the elected president of PARLACEN, Silvia Garcia, of the Dominican Republic, praising the role of the outgoing president, Armando Acevedo, of the Republic of Panama, in strengthening cooperation with the Moroccan parliament at the bilateral and multilateral levels, and maintaining the noble fraternal positions expressed by PARLACEN regarding the just causes of the Kingdom of Morocco, at their head the issue of its territorial integrity, added the same source.
In this regard, he expressed his pride in continuing his duties as representative of the House of Advisors to this inter-parliamentary union in Latin America, stressing that the priority given by the House of Advisors to strengthening relations with Latin American parliaments “was not only a choice of circumstance, but rather a firm conviction based on a strategic plan of the Kingdom to strengthen South-South cooperation, a choice made by His Majesty King Mohammed VI”.

Among the milestones of bilateral relations between the House of Councilors and PARLACEN, there is the “Laayoune Declaration”, which sanctioned the work of the “historic” joint meeting of the office of the House of Councilors and the executive office of PARLACEN, in July 2016, in which this regional parliament expressed its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the peaceful intervention of Morocco to ensure free civil and commercial movement through the El Guerguerat border post, in addition to the joint initiatives at the multilateral level that resulted in the signing by PARLACEN of the constitutive declaration of the Afro-Latin American Parliamentary Forum “AFROLAC”, on November 1, 2019, alongside the presidents of the regional inter-parliamentary unions in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
