At the beginning of his speech on this occasion, Mr. Mayara expressed his sincere feelings of loyalty and fidelity to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of His accession to the Throne of His Glorious Ancestors.

In this regard, Mr. Mayara welcomed the valuable achievements and accomplishments that have marked the all-round development process in Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, stressing that the various structural reforms and ambitious strategies undertaken under the reign of the Sovereign “have transformed Morocco into an emerging economy driven by a remarkable momentum of modernization.”

These potentials, he continued, “have established the country as a unique model in its regional and international environment thanks to its strategic position, the political stability and social peace it enjoys as well as its natural resources, its economic potential and its developed infrastructure.”

These achievements should not obscure “the magnitude of the challenges facing our country, including climate change, global fluctuations and the international commitments that the Kingdom has made in full awareness and responsibility,” observed the President of the Second Chamber.

And to note that the parliament and the government will have, in the short and medium term, work on their plate with deadlines of great importance that require a lot of coordination, in particular continental and international sporting events, energy challenges, management of drought and water shortage, completion of the royal project of generalization of social coverage and the reconstruction of the areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake.

On the other hand, Mr. Mayara affirmed that the House of Councilors, with all its components, ensured to implement the content of the Royal message calling for the moralization of parliamentary life, through the establishment of a Code of Ethics of the legislative institution.

The deliberations on this subject resulted in the adoption of a relevant document, with clear objectives, composed of 35 articles, which was signed by the presidents of the groups and the coordinators of the parliamentary groups as well as by non-affiliated members, noted the president of the Chamber of Advisors, considering that this demonstrates “the adhesion of all the components of the Chamber to this fundamental project which contributes to the moralization of parliamentary life”.
