In a speech delivered during this closing session, the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, indicated that this session was rich in terms of legislative texts, an effort which is deployed in interaction with the development process and the achievements of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on the political, economic, cultural, environmental and human rights levels.
The Kingdom has demonstrated solid resilience in the face of a difficult international situation, said Mr. Talbi Alami, highlighting the economic progress made in terms of basic infrastructure and structuring projects, in particular the consolidation of the pillars of the Social State, in application of the High Royal Guidelines, which place the human element at the heart of development.
He also highlighted the strengthening of the Kingdom’s position as an emerging and influential power in international relations, enjoying international consideration and esteem.
Mr. Talbi Alami also recalled the content of the message sent by His Majesty the King to the participants in the Symposium organized by the parliament on January 17 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the constitution of the first elected Moroccan Parliament.
The Royal message, he noted, constituted a roadmap and a source of inspiration to improve parliamentary action and resolutely contribute to the consolidation of institutional democracy.
He, on another note, indicated that in execution of the High Royal Guidelines, particular attention was paid at the level of the office of the House of Representatives and by the presidents of parliamentary groups and groups, to the project relating to the code of ethics parliamentary action to respond to the aspirations of His Majesty the King, in order to work towards the moralization of parliamentary action while prioritizing the general interest.
Furthermore and in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines, a working group on African affairs was created, taking into account the preponderant place of the African continent in the foreign policy of the Kingdom, as affirmed by HM the King in His message.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed that the Moroccan parliament has accentuated, whether within the framework of bilateral or multilateral meetings, its significant presence in the various geopolitical regions in the world, evoking in this regard the holding in Morocco of several parliamentary meetings of great importance, the work of which was crowned by reference documents and qualitative and quantitative participation.
Mr. Talbi Alami also affirmed that the Royal message calls for continued mobilization and qualitative and influential participation within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy.
The collective ambition remains great to raise representative and institutional democracy and to capitalize on the great maturity acquired by parliamentary action, he said.
Referring to the question of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, the President of the House of Representatives recalled the achievements made both in terms of structuring projects implemented in the southern provinces, and through the growing conviction of the correctness of the national cause and in terms of the rejection of the separatist thesis.
