“House of the Dragon”: blood and water

Midway through the first season of “House of Dragons,” it became clear that we would not be getting a new “Game of Thrones.” Based on JRR Martin’s book “Fire and Blood,” the prequel turned out to be not an exciting, complex epic, but a slow and, despite the evolutionary time jumps, a relaxing story about family issues. Instead of being more deep and accepting, so to speak, psychology, the characters move in the opposite direction – to kindergarten simplicity. And if at first hidden thoughts and hidden thoughts reappear after some sly half-smiles, then very soon there are no mysteries left at all. Many storylines that could have enriched the story were cut short as soon as they started, such as Waymond Velaryon’s rebellion, which was very promising in the first 15 minutes until it was destroyed with a single blow of the sword. And the intimacy, pseudo-historical exoticism and endless repetition of the same thing in conversation make the show look like a Turkish soap opera in the inner palace. Many times, the heroes, sitting at a long table, argue about the issues of succession to the throne. And in this regard, nothing has changed significantly in the new season – except that now, they have turned into two camps, they gather at different tables.
