Total electricity sales in 2019-20 were 9,494 crore units. Out of which the share of houses is 2,865 crore units; The share of factories was also 3,462 crore units.

Employees of communication companies, including computers, worked from home with the help of the Internet. Due to this, electricity consumption in houses increased more than usual.
Accordingly, houses are at the top with 3,271 crore units in the total electricity sales in 2020-21 which was 9,334 crore units; Factories were also second with 3,151 crore units.
Due to the measures taken by the central and state governments, many restrictions were relaxed in the post-July curfew in 2021. Due to this, industrial companies started working in full swing.
Consequently, overall electricity sales increased to 9,746 crore units in 2021-22. The share of factories is at the top with 3,683 crore units; Housing shares were also second with 3,077 crore units.

In 2019-20, the per capita electricity consumption was 1,515 units. This decreased to 1,464 units in 2020-21 due to shutdown of industries.
Restrictions were eased in the following year. The per capita electricity consumption increased to 1,593 units during that year.
