Accordingly, houses are at the top with 3,271 crore units in the total electricity sales in 2020-21 which was 9,334 crore units; Factories were also second with 3,151 crore units.

Due to the measures taken by the central and state governments, many restrictions were relaxed in the post-July curfew in 2021. Due to this, industrial companies started working in full swing.

Consequently, overall electricity sales increased to 9,746 crore units in 2021-22. The share of factories is at the top with 3,683 crore units; Housing shares were also second with 3,077 crore units.

In this regard, an official of the Electricity Board said:

In 2019-20, the per capita electricity consumption was 1,515 units. This decreased to 1,464 units in 2020-21 due to shutdown of industries.

Restrictions were eased in the following year. The per capita electricity consumption increased to 1,593 units during that year.
