In the city of Girona, according to Fotocasa, the price per square meter costs 2,712 euros on average, 9.1% more than a year ago and 0.5% more than in September. Figures similar to those published by Idealista, which assures that on average a square meter costs 2,434 euros in the city, 6.5% more than October 2022 and 0.6% more than last September.

In Spain, the price of used housing registered an increase of 0.4% during the month of October, standing at 2,016 euros per square meter, according to the latest Idealista real estate price index. This figure is 7.1% higher than that of the same month last year, while it is 4.7% below the historical maximum house price in Spain, recorded in June 2007. Some figures very similar to those presented by Fotocasa, which assures that in Spain the monthly variation in the price of second-hand housing rises by 0.4% and by 6.6% in the year-on-year variation, placing the price at 2,159 euros on square meter in October.

María Matos, director of studies and spokesperson for Fotocasa assures that there is a “slowing trend in the rate of growth in the price of second-hand housing. The biggest variations shown in the last decade are behind us and the price is beginning a stage of searching for stabilization after the acceleration caused by the rise in interest rates». However, it ensures that “this moderation in price increases does not mean that the price will show drops” “No declines are expected due to the large existing imbalance between supply and demand, the productive deficit of new construction and social housing and the intense interest in buying from a solvent and investor profile in the market,” he adds.
