/ The Houthi group announced, on Saturday morning, that it had targeted a British oil tanker in the Red Sea with a number of missiles, noting that the hit was “direct.”
The military spokesman for the Yemeni Houthi group, Yahya Saree, said that the Houthis targeted the British oil tanker “Pollux” with missiles in the Red Sea.
Saree wrote on his account on the X platform, “The naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces carried out an operation targeting the British oil tanker Pollux in the Red Sea with a large number of appropriate naval missiles, and the hit was accurate and direct, thanks be to God.”
He added, “The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm the continuation of their military operations in the Red and Arab seas against Israeli navigation or navigation heading to the ports of occupied Palestine until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted.”
This comes as the Houthis continue to target ships and tankers heading to and from Israel, while the US and British navies respond by bombing Houthi sites and targets on Yemeni land.
Last Wednesday, the US military said the Houthis fired six ballistic missiles at two ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Reuters quoted the US Central Command as saying that one of the ships reported minor damage but no injuries, and that another ship reported minor damage but no injuries.
She added that the American ship Star Nassia, which was targeted by the Houthis, reported an explosion near it that caused minor damage without any injuries.
