/ The Yemeni Houthi group threatened, on Friday, to “close” the Bab al-Mandab Strait completely, while indicating that keeping it open “until now” means its keenness on international navigation.

Houthi leader Hussein Al-Ezzi said in press statements seen by Shafak News Agency that “the Houthis can completely close the Bab al-Mandab Strait.”

The Houthi leader added that “the failure to close the strait so far means that the group is keen on international navigation, accusing the United States and Britain of lying,” according to his expression.

These statements came a day after Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi threatened to escalate naval operations against ships linked to the United States, Britain and Israel, and pledged to introduce a new weapon into the naval confrontation.

The Houthi group also warned Israeli, American and British ships yesterday, Thursday, against sailing in the waters of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.

Reuters reported, citing statements issued by an agency controlled by the Yemeni Houthi group, that it said: “Vessels owned wholly or partially by Israeli individuals or entities and ships flying the Israeli flag are prohibited from passing through the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.”

Today, Friday, Houthi-affiliated media reported that the Ras Issa area in the As-Salif district in Al-Hodeidah, western Yemen, was subjected to three American and British raids.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said yesterday, Thursday, that the attacks in the Red Sea “are continuing and we seek to escalate them,” adding, “We have introduced submarine weapons into our operations in the Red and Arabian Seas.”

He added, “The Americans use the veto on any decision that serves the interests of the Palestinians, and only to serve Israel,” indicating that “the United States is a partner in the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.”

The leader of the Houthi group stated that “the World Food Program suspended food provision in Gaza despite the suffering and hunger there, and there is an American role in manipulating the level of international organizations.”

He also explained that “the available missiles have been developed to a degree that they cannot be intercepted or shot down, and all the ships that are being targeted are classified as either American, British or Israeli,” indicating that “the targeted ships at sea are 48 ships, while the operations on Israeli targets in the occupied territories amounted to 183 missiles and drones.”
