Cardiologists at Sapporo University in Japan discovered that patients with heart failure who feel lonely have heart health that is more likely to have negative consequences.

According to the “Russia Today” website, the “Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine” magazine indicates that 300 patients over the age of 65 who were hospitalized participated in this study, and all of them underwent a unit level measurement, after which doctors followed up on their health during 3 years.

“We discovered that patient loneliness is associated with adverse long-term clinical outcomes in elderly patients with heart failure. In addition, this factor increased the likelihood of an adverse diagnosis,” the researchers say.

The researchers emphasize that people view their loneliness differently, based on life circumstances, and the consequences of loneliness vary according to the social conditions in which the person lives.

The researchers plan to study this issue in the future with the participation of different and diverse samples of people.
