Siblings is a roommate company that sublets rooms to able-bodied and disabled tenants, who learn how to “live together”. The objective is to “perpetuate new models of inclusive housing while supporting young people with disabilities on a daily basis towards autonomy and employment”.

Disabled roommates are accompanied by professionals

And the model works, as evidenced by Maxime, Axelle, Aurélie, Valentin, Matthieu and Étienne, house manager: “The roommates without disabilities who live here pay rent like in any other roommate, he specifies. But they are not there to help roommates with disabilities, because there are precisely four professionals present for that”.

Axelle, who is disabled, is delighted to live with a roommate: “I can’t live with my parents for the rest of my life, so when I found out that a house was opening up, I was happy! Now I’m fine in my room,” she enthuses. Matthieu, an able-bodied roommate, adds: “Living with people who have a disability creates closeness and brings a lot of good humor”.
