Chennai: Tamil Nadu Transport Minister Sivashankar has said that “the basic pay for transport workers will be calculated after matching the basic pay in the pay matrix and giving a 5 percent increase.”

The 14th wage hike negotiation was held in Chrompettai, Chennai under the leadership of Tamil Nadu Transport Minister Sivashankar. After this, Minister Sivashankar met the press and said: “The 13th Agreement on Wage Hike for Transport Workers was signed on 4.1.2018. As this agreement expires on 31.8.2019, the 14th Wage Hike Agreement was negotiated in 7 phases and ended today with the union The agreement was signed by the representatives and the main agreement clauses agreed upon during the negotiations were:

> Basic Pay The basic pay will be fixed as follows on 1.9.2019 for permanent workers working in Transport Corporations. The basic pay received on 31.8.2019 will be fixed in the pay matrix and the new basic pay will be calculated after giving an increase of 5 percent.

> Interim relief was already being provided from 1.2.2001. 1000 rupees per month. That interim relief will be settled on the outstanding balance from 1.1.2022 to 31.7.2022 as per the present agreement.

> The request that collection beta for free travel for women is not provided is accepted and the government is ordering to pay double the existing collection to the drivers and conductors to compensate the compensations incurred in the collection.

> As per the demand of the union representatives to increase the various steps, concessions, special beta, risk and shift allowance, night travel step, night stay step, etc. have been increased.

> Vehicle transport workers working in hilly areas are paid Rs.1500 per month and Rs.3000 per month.

> A committee has been formed to implement the Standing Order for the same guidelines in all the Transport Corporations.

> Family of pensioners will be given travel concession.

> The family welfare fund is being increased to Rs. 5 lakh from Rs. 3 lakh which was given to the families of deceased employees by deducting Rs. 60 every month. 150 per month will be deducted from the workers for this. These hikes will be implemented from 1.9.2022.

> All the laborers working during the corona period will be paid Rs 300 per work as a special wage,” he said.
