From 17 to 30 September 2024, in anticipation of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), JSC “Baku Steel Company” together with QGallery organized the first international metal symposium Baku Steel Art 2024, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.
In this regard, a press tour was held today. The final exhibition will open on October 1.
Artists from 7 countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Israel, Bulgaria, India) are participating in Baku Steel Art 2024. The main goal is to demonstrate how art and metallurgy can become catalysts for environmental change and sustainable development. This international project offers a new perspective on the interaction between art and industry in the context of global environmental challenges. This unique event will be a landmark gathering of craftsmen and artists from around the world whose creations embody the grace and power of this material.
Founder of QGallery, Vice-Rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, People’s Artist Salhab Mammadov: “The project is unique from the point of view of representing the harmony of art and metallurgy in the context of global ecology. Man’s acquaintance with metal is historically reflected in art – in sculptures, frescoes, paintings and even technical drawings. In the current format, each artist reflects his own vision, creatively presented in metal.”
Baku Steel Art 2024 has become a platform for dialogue between cultures and styles, opening up horizons for creativity and modern approaches in the art of working with metal. This is a chance to plunge into the vibrant world of expressive art, where every element and glow of metal speaks of the endless possibilities of the human imagination. The magic of creativity is resurrected in the very heart of the city, where historical traditions are harmoniously intertwined with modern trends.
Rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, People’s Artist Natig Aliyev: “Today we looked at the process of creating works, which is very labor-intensive and interesting in the plans of the masters. These creations reflect the artists’ modern view of ecology and call for a green world.”
Participants of the symposium at the Baku Steel Company site will not only demonstrate their amazing works, but also share their experiences, exchange ideas, inspiring each other to new artistic searches. Observing the process of creating metallurgical products, we feel the mystery hidden in every spark that flashes during welding. Metal craftsmen are like alchemists, transforming cold raw materials into objects that can inspire, surprise, or even touch the soul. It is this tandem of craftsmanship and technology that together creates a new space for art, where steel elements become not only a constructive basis, but also carriers of an emotional message.
Baku Steel Art artists don’t just use metal; they will make stories out of it. Each installation is the result of careful work, an analogy between the strength of steel and the fragility of human feelings. As in classical works, the immutability of the concept of beauty will be revealed here, which seems to be able to withstand time, but in reality is permeated by the variability of human perception and admiration.
Baku Steel Art 2024 is a unique international event where you can observe the process of creative work of artistic forging masters from different countries. Whether an individual, a team or a group of artists, the aim of organizing the Baku Steel Art series of international symposiums is to demonstrate how metal products and their use in art can help advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). The existence of such a vibrant cultural platform as Baku Steel Art will strengthen international ties and inspire a new generation of artists to create works that embody the harmony between art and industry.
