Tehran: New information has emerged on the murder of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyya in Tehran. According to this, Ismail Haniyya was not killed by a pre-planted bomb, but by an air weapon fired at his room. Three people have told Middle East Eye, which reports on events in the Middle East, about this. These three people were present in the heavily guarded building in which Ismail Haniyya was killed. One of these people was living in a room near Haniya’s room. He told on Friday that before the explosion he had heard some sounds, which sounded like a missile. One person told Middle East Eye, ‘It was definitely a weapon thrown in the air. It was not a pre-planted bomb.’ He further said that the scene seen after the explosion looked like a missile attack. The other two people who were living on different floors had seen the situation after the attack. He told that after the attack the ceiling and outer wall of Haniya’s room had partially collapsed.

There was a claim of a bomb in the room

This statement matches the statement of Iranian officials, which said that Ismail Haniya was killed in an airstrike at 1:45 am on Wednesday morning. Earlier, the New York Times had reported that Haniya was killed by the explosion of a pre-planted bomb in his room. The report said that this bomb was delivered to the guest house where Haniya was staying two months ago. It was exploded through AI remote after confirming Haniya’s presence in the room at night.

Threat of war due to Haniya’s murder

Haniyeh was assassinated on Wednesday when he went to Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. After the ceremony on Tuesday, Haniyeh stayed at a highly secured military complex in Tehran, where he was assassinated late at night. Iran has blamed Israel for this. Haniyeh’s murder was the second high profile murder in the region within a few hours. Earlier on Tuesday evening, Israel killed Fuad Shukr, the military chief of Lebanon’s Iran-backed extremist organization Hezbollah, in a missile attack in Beirut. After these two murders, there is a danger of a major war in the region.
