Have you got more SIMs issued on your Aadhaar card? If so, then you may have to face 3 years of jail and a fine of up to Rs 2 lakh. In fact, the Central Government has implemented the Telecommunication Act 2023 to stop fraudulent activity, under which a limited number of SIM cards can be kept. If you do not do this, you may have to go to jail as well as pay a fine. Let’s know about this in detail…

What is the limit for keeping a SIM card

According to the new rule, the maximum limit for SIM cards is 9. This means that a maximum of 9 SIM cards can be issued on one Aadhaar card. However, in sensitive states like Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, the limit for SIM cards has been reduced to 6. This step has been taken in view of security.

You will have to go to jail for having more sims

If you break these rules, you have to face many legal and financial losses. If someone breaks the rules for the first time, then he will have to pay a fine of up to 50 thousand rupees. If this rule is broken repeatedly, then a fine of up to 2 lakh rupees may have to be paid. However, there is no provision of jail sentence for having more SIMs in the law. However, if financial or criminal activity is done with the SIM card issued in your name, then you can be jailed for three years. Also, both a fine of Rs 50 lakh and jail can be imposed.
