After two months of summer break, the Ligue 1 football championship resumed its rights on Friday evening, with the inaugural meeting Nice-Lille, which gave birth to a 1-1 draw. Like last season, to be able to enjoy all of the L1 matches, two combined subscriptions will be required. Indeed, Prime Video and Canal + share the cake, the first broadcasting seven matches per day, when the encrypted channel must be satisfied with two posters (the matches of Saturday evening at 9 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m.).
How to watch Ligue 1?
Good that Prime Video broadcast fewer matches than last season, due to the passage of the L1 from 20 to 18 clubs, the subscription is more expensive this season. It costs 14.99 euros per month (compared to 12.99 euros last season), or 99 euros per year, to benefit from the Ligue 1 Pass. To which must be added the – mandatory – subscription to the Amazon Prime service ( 6.99 euros per month or 69.90 euros per year).
The subscription to Canal+ costs him 22.99 euros per month for the first twelve months then 27.99 euros per month, in the event of a commitment for 24 months. Or 27.99 euros per month if you opt for a monthly subscription (13.99 euros for those under 26). Note that Ligue 1 matches are broadcast on the Canal+ Foot and Canal+ Sport 360 channels.
In total, to take advantage of all of Ligue 1 this season, it is therefore necessary to count between 37 and 50 euros per month depending on the formulas chosen (monthly or annual subscription, with commitment or not). Everything could change for viewers next season, as a new call for tenders for Ligue 1 TV rights for the period 2024-2028 will be launched on September 12.

Premier League, Champions League, Europa League: which subscriptions?
If you’re a football buff and don’t have enough with Ligue 1, additional subscriptions may be required. Because if the Canal+ subscription also allows you to enjoy the English championship, the Premier League, certain Champions League, Europa League and Europa League Conference matches, or even the women’s first division, D1 Arkéma, and if Prime Video also shows most Ligue 2 matches, you need a beIN Sports subscription to watch Serie A, Bundesliga and La Liga.
The Qatari channel also owns the rights to certain Coupe de France, Champions League and Ligue 2 matches. It costs 15 euros per month to subscribe.
Canal+ otherwise offers a Canal+ Sport subscription (including beIN Sports and Eurosport) at 25.99 euros per month for the first twelve months (then 39.99 euros per month) for a 24-month commitment.
And if you ever want to be able to watch all the possible and imaginable matches on French TV this season, you still have to add a subscription to RMC Sport, co-broadcaster of the European cups (19 euros per month with a twelve-month commitment, otherwise 25 euros per month). Which makes a total of between 60 and 90 euros per month to watch all the football on TV this season.
What can you watch without paying anything?
For those who refuse to pay a penny to watch football on television, there are still a few matches broadcast on free channels: the matches of the French men’s and women’s teams are broadcast by TF1, the M6 group and France Télévisions. The M6 group broadcasts certain Europa League and Europa League Conference matches, France Télévisions matches of the Coupe de France, and TF1 the Champions League final. La Chaîne L’Équipe also owns a few minor rights, including one Ligue 2 match per day.
