The minimum wage increase is expected to be in double digits.
As reported by Day.Az, Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, told Trend about this.
He noted that the proposals being prepared will be considered within the framework of the budget package after discussion in the government.
“It is expected that a decision on the minimum wage will be made next year. Since the proposals are still being developed, there is no specific information on how much the minimum wage will be increased. We are presenting our proposals to increase the minimum wage. When increasing the minimum wage, it is absolutely necessary to take into account the percentage of growth in the average monthly wage over the past period, as well as the inflation rate,” Bayramov said.
According to him, given that the inflation rate over the past period was double-digit, it is expected that the percentage increase in the minimum wage may also be double-digit. The specific figure may become known and discussed this fall, Bayramov added.
