How serious are the models? Troll for Sabyasachi’s ad

by time news
“Smile more and look more beautiful” is a comment most women have heard over the years from family, friends, street commentators and strangers on the internet. Women often point out that the person who asks them to smile seems to have a ‘right’ to something.

Their reaction is that their choice to express happiness sometimes seems to be not their own choice. In fact, the ‘culture of asking girls to smile’ had led to the need to invent certain expressions to describe ‘women who do not smile naturally’.

With the exception of ordinary women, models in photoshoots are often told not to ‘smile’ and to show off their serious faces for photoshoots. It is also a strategy to divert attention from them to the product they are selling. Indian fashion and jewelery designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s latest jewelery advertising campaign is being trolled online for similar reasons. The models here are not smiling.

The trolls start with an image promoting the brand’s best jewelry in the ‘Running Winter’ 2 campaign. The image created by Sabyasachi is of three supermodels adorned with jewelery and clothes. Below is a post shared from the designer’s official Instagram account.

Netizens have strongly criticized Sabyasachi’s recent ad on Twitter for abusing the Mangalya Sutra. Launches an intimate fine jewelery collection featuring the luxury label ‘The Royal Bengal Mangalsutra’ and shares pictures of the new line on the official Instagram handle. The Bengal Tiger Icon collection, which starts at Rs 1,65,000, was unveiled.

The image was of a woman in a denim and bra wearing a wedding dress during an advertising campaign. The Mangalya Sutra is considered as a sacred ornament worn by Hindu women at weddings. On the wedding day, the groom ties a gold thread around the bride’s necklace, emphasizing that their relationship will be as good as that thread. A typical wedding dress has two strings of black pearls and a pendant.
