How the parties want to relieve families financially

by time news

BerlinDuring the Corona crisis, a lot was demanded from families in particular – homeschooling and closed daycare centers not only presented parents with organizational challenges. The financial burden was also high – when the compatibility of family and work meant reducing working hours and thus wages in order to be able to make up for the lack of childcare. Politicians now want to relieve families. Approaches to this can be found in the election programs for the Bundestag election in September.

CDU / CSU: The Union wants to give employees flexible working hours. However, mobile working should not be stipulated by law, but should be based on social partnership regulations. With regard to the compatibility of family and work, she also speaks in her election program of wanting to make the so-called time value accounts more practicable. This tool, which has been used rarely so far, enables employees to record the deviation of the hours worked from the contractually agreed working hours. “Parents should be able to use the time saved to work less during the family phase without financial disadvantages,” says the election program. State subsidies should also be able to be posted to family time accounts.
