Sylt worshipers do not allow their island to be neglected, least of all by a Prussian newcomer to Sylt who unabashedly spreads his ignorance in the Berliner Zeitung. Sylt friends defend their island, even what no one in their right mind would defend. Friends! Nice speech is not a way!
I took all objections to heart. The editorial team said gently that the author did not understand the island. It’s correct. I just wanted to have a nice vacation, not become a Sylt-understanding woman. What I experienced, however, were hours of traffic jams with nasty jostles on arrival and departure, an island full of queues and a gruff tone. The advice of a compassionate editor read: I should take a deep breath, feel the sand, smell the salt, look at the sea. Well, well, not a word against the beach. The only thing left is this habit of regular meals. “We take everything with us,” advises a neighbor.
