The city council hoped that the referendum would not come to fruition, that too few Ghent residents would make their voices heard on Sunday morning. Ghent is too expensive, according to more than 12.40 percent of its residents. 33,203 people cast their votes, voting convincingly ‘yes’ to both questions. The action group triumphs.
