A driver’s license is a document that certifies an individual’s ability to safely operate a vehicle in accordance with traffic regulations.
The Secretary of Mobility of Mexico City (SEMOVI) has facilitated the process of obtaining this document in response to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, allowing residents to access their licenses digitally through the CDMX APP in a free manner. This digital format carries the same legal weight as the physical version and is part of a regulatory reform to the Mobility Law.
Who can obtain the digital license?
• Holders of a valid type A license in physical format.
• This option is only available for licenses with a limited duration that are registered in the SEMOVI databases, including name, RFC, photo, and biometric data.
How to obtain your digital license:
• Access the CDMX APP.
• Navigate to the “Digital Wallet” module and select “Add Credential”.
• Choose the “Driver’s License” option.
• enter the license number from your physical document to receive the digital version.
