How to edit or cancel sending messages in ios16?

by time news

A lot of times we send text messages and then regret it because of a misspelling, sending the message to the wrong person, or backing away from an idea or situation we wanted to express in the message.
And while messaging apps like Signal, WhatsApp, and Viber have some “delete for everyone” feature, until now, there’s been nothing you can do about it on iMessage except to catch up with a message saying “I didn’t mean it.”

And in iOS 16, Apple introduces a feature for its iMessage chat app that lets you edit or unsend a message — as long as you do so within 15 minutes of when it’s sent and the recipient is also on iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or macOS Ventura.

To edit the message:
Press and hold on the message.
In the drop-down list, click Edit.
Edit your message and click the check mark to the right of the message to send the correction, or press the X to the right of the message if you change your mind about changing the text.

To delete the message
Press and hold on the message.
In the drop-down menu, click Undo Send.
The message will disappear immediately.

If you long-press your message after 15 minutes have passed, the “Undo Send” and “Edit” options will no longer be in the menu, according to The Verge.
