A TikTok User’s Dishwasher Hack Goes Viral
It’s a dirty secret guaranteed to get your dishes squeaky clean.
A TikToker has gone viral after sharing a hack that allows people to place tall wine glasses in the top drawer of their dishwasher.
The content creator, known only as @hotdogsilly, dished the details in a TikTok video first shared in 2021 that has now resurfaced ahead of the holidays.
The clip begins with archival footage that the content creator found on the internet. It shows an anonymous person trying to place a stemmed wine glass into the top drawer of their washer. At first, the glass is too tall to fit and stops the dishwasher door from fully closing. However, the person solves the problem by flipping a switch on the inside of the rack that lowers it by several inches. This newly adjusted height allows the large glass to fit in the top drawer and the dishwasher door to close properly.
Seemingly stunned by the footage, @hotdogsilly is seen in her own video marching over to her kitchen to inspect the drawers of her own dishwasher. She discovers that her machine also has a switch to allow bigger items on the top rack. “My whole life is a lie,” she declared after discovering the hack.
Hundreds of viewers were floored by the feature and expressed their enthusiasm in the comments section beneath the video. “MIND BLOWN,” one wrote after discovering that their dishwasher has the switch to lower the rack. “I am so glad you posted this. I couldn’t figure it out before!!!” another remarked.
However, one person weren’t so impressed by the TikTok user’s revelation. “Nobody read the damn manual?” they bluntly asked.
The video has garnered thousands of likes and shares, with people amazed at the seemingly unknown feature of their dishwashers.
This newfound hack has left many wondering what other secrets their appliances might be hiding.
