In a recent update, Apple has introduced a new Action button on its latest iPhone model, the iPhone 15 Pro. Along with this feature, an interesting addition to the status bar has caught the attention of users – a silence mode icon placed next to the time display. However, Apple has provided a solution to hide the silent bell icon on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Here’s how you can do it.
The Action button, located in the same position as the side switch on previous iPhone models, can be activated through a long press. By default, it is designed to enable or disable silent mode. Even if users customize the Action button to control other functions, the new silent bell icon appears in the iPhone 15 Pro’s status bar right beside the time.
Renowned tech personality, MKBHD, recently discovered this change and luckily, Apple has included a quick fix in the Settings to remove the silent mode icon.
To hide the silent bell icon on the iPhone 15 Pro, follow these steps:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max.
2. Select “Sounds & Haptics” from the options available near the top.
3. Tap the second toggle down next to “Show in Status Bar” to hide the silent bell.
This simple process will remove the silent bell icon from the status bar on your iPhone 15 Pro.
If you haven’t customized your Action button yet, you can easily navigate to Settings > Action button to explore the various options available. These options include silent mode (default), focus mode, camera, flashlight, voice memo, shortcuts, accessibility features such as magnifier, and more. Additionally, a Translate feature will be added in a future update.
If you decide to change the Action button to trigger something other than silent mode, you can still turn silent mode on or off from the Control Center or Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
