Money can be easily sent to anyone by scanning the Q code. QR code is used for every small and big payment, from buying vegetables to grocery and filling fuel. This is a very easy process, in which online payment can be done with the help of any UPI payment app like PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm, but making payment by scanning QR code can prove to be dangerous for you. A similar incident happened in Madhya Pradesh, where the QR codes of about half a dozen shops including petrol pumps were replaced with fake QR codes. Due to this, payment started being made directly into the scammer’s account. However later this scam was identified.
How to identify real and fake QR
Actually, fake QR code cannot be identified by looking at it. Because every QR code looks the same. But if you are careful about some things, fraud can be avoided.

Both the payment receiver and the payer have to be careful to avoid fake QR codes. Use the sound box to make the payment receiver receive the payment from the QR code, so that if someone makes a payment on a fake QR code, it can be identified in time.
Verify QR code before payment
If you are making payment by scanning the QR code, then after scanning the QR, the name of the shop or owner should be verified. Before making the payment, the user should verify whose account the payment will go to, because when you scan the QR code, the name of its owner appears. If the name of the shop or person is shown wrong, then payment should not be made.
Identify wrong QR code with Google
If you find the QR code scanner suspicious, you should scan the QR code with Google Lens. This way you will know where the URL is being redirected.
Don’t scan for money
QR code should not be used to receive money. If you want to take money from someone, there is no need to scan the QR code. This can become a cause of fraud. As soon as you scan the QR code and enter the UPI PIN, you may get cheated.
