UPI payments are continuously increasing in India. According to the NPCI report, in December 2024, Unified Interface i.e. UPI has crossed the figure of 16.73 billion transactions, which is the highest till date. There has been an increase of 8 percent in comparison to last month. Digital payment is becoming increasingly popular. In such a situation, the facility of UPI payment through credit card has been started. But the question arises that how can UPI be linked to the credit card.
How to link UPI with credit card
- To link credit card with UPI, it is necessary to first download UPI linked apps like BHIM and PhonePe. Once the app is installed, you need to go to the ‘add payment method’ section. After this the credit card option will have to be selected.
- After this you will have to enter your card number. Also CVV and expiry date will have to be entered. Then you will have to enter the one time password i.e. OTP, which will be sent to your registered phone number for verification.
- In this way your UPI ID will be ready, which will allow you to send and receive money.
- With the help of this ID, transactions like bill payment and transfer of funds can be done.
How to make UPI payment with the help of credit card
- Once your credit card is linked to your UPI account, making payments becomes easy. You can scan the QR code or ‘Pay by phone number’ or contact.
- After entering the amount in it, select your credit card as payment mode.
- After this enter your PIN and complete the transaction.
At present only RuPay credit cards can be linked to UPI. This facility is being provided by 22 banks including Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, Indian Bank, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank, SBI Cards, ICICI Bank, IDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank. Popular UPI apps like BHIM, Paytm and Google Pay support linking of RuPay cards.
There are no additional fees for using credit cards, and users can make payments without having to manually enter their credit card details every time.
