If you’ve been using Snapchat for a long time, we’re sure your conversation view is cluttered with chats from people you might not talk to anymore or know in the real world. And in the midst of all that chaos, you don’t want to miss messages from your best friend or significant other.
In that case, you can use the Pinned Conversation feature in Snapchat to pin important chats to the top. While it may seem like a simple thing, it makes navigating the app quick and convenient. So, read on to find out how to pin people on Snapchat.
Things to remember
- You can add up to 3 people at the top of your Snapchat chat screen.
- People don’t get notified when you pin their conversation on Snapchat.
- Snapchat says that the ability to pin a conversation is only available on iOS, but in our testing we found that you can pin a conversation on Android Also.
- The feature is not currently available on Snapchat Web.
Add conversations on Snapchat
By pinning someone’s conversation on Snapchat on Android and iOS, you can make sure you never miss a message or snap from them. Here’s how you can pin people on Snapchat:
- Open the Snapchat app and swipe Right or touch the Chat icon below.
- Here, hold down the button conversation that you want to pin at the top.
- Now it’s the turn of the Chat Settings option in the pop-up menu that appears.
- On the next screen, select Pin Conversation option.
- You will now see the pinned conversation in your chat screen with the pin emoji next to the user’s name.
Unblock People on Snapchat
While you only engage in conversation with someone if they are more valuable than others in your life, there may come a time when you no longer value conversations with that person. Regardless of the reason, you can easily remove people from your Snapchat chat screen and that user won’t even be notified. Here’s how it works:
- Open the Snapchat app and swipe Right or touch the Chat icon below.
- Here, long press the conversation you want to remove from the chat screen.
- Now it’s the turn of the Chat Settings option in the pop-up menu.
- On the next screen, tap Unlock conversation option.
- You will then see that the conversation will be removed from the top of your chat screen.
Customize the red pin icon on Snapchat
By default, Snapchat uses the red pin emoji when you pin people on Snapchat, but similarly to red heart on snapchatThe app allows you to change the pin emoji and use any other available friend emoji. Follow the detailed steps below to customize the pinned conversation emoji on Snapchat:

- Open the Snapchat app and tap Bitemoji (or profile icon) at the top left.
- Here, touch the Settings icon available at the top right.
- Then, scroll down and tap Friends Emoji option on your iPhone or Customize Emojis option if you use an Android phone.
- So, touch the Conversation blocked option at the bottom of the menu.
- Now you can choose the emoji you want to replace the pin emoji with.
