There has been an increase in the recharge plans of Jio and Airtel, after which people are looking at BSNL as an option for cheap recharge. Amidst expensive recharges, people are getting information about mobile number portability (MNP) i.e. number porting in BSNL. If you are a Jio and Airtel user and want to transfer your SIM to BSNL, then let’s know its process….
How to port to BSNL
First of all, you have to request for mobile number port by sending an SMS to 1900.
For this, you will have to write ‘PORT’ in the message box and after a space enter your 10 digit mobile number.
If you are a user from Jammu and Kashmir, you will have to call 1900.
Then you will have to go to BSNL service center to port your mobile number, where your Aadhaar card or other ID details, photo and biometric details will be taken from you.
After this, you will be issued a new BSNL SIM. You may be charged some money in return for this.
Then a special number will be sent to you, with the help of which you will be able to activate the number.
MNP rules
- The process for porting Jio and Airtel users to BSNL is the same.
- According to the new rule of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, the waiting period for shifting to a new telecom operator has become 7 days. This means that the SIM card will have to wait for 7 days in the port.
- If your balance is not outstanding, your mobile number will be activated within 15 to 30 days.
