PINEROLO – Consultations for the Participatory Budget of the Municipality will take place in Pinerolo. Citizens over 16 residing in Pinerolo will have the opportunity to vote for one of the seven proposed projects: the one that obtains the most votes will be financed and implemented with a budget of 100,000 euros. Voting will take place online on the websites www.comune.pinerolo.to.it and on www.pinerolourbanbox.it. For those who do not have a PC, an internet connection or a smartphone, it is possible to vote at the appropriate station set up at the municipal offices during the following hours: from 7 to 11 October from 9 to 11:30 in the morning and from 14 to 15:30 in the afternoon.
The participatory budget, which allows you to choose how to invest the 100,000 euros made available by the Municipal Administration of Pinerolo, is above all a way of bringing citizens closer to the management of public affairs, to encourage them to deal with it with greater awareness, understanding its complexity and responsibility and pushing them to personally commit to improving the city. Below are the seven ideas proposed by citizens, which were admitted to the vote for the 2024 edition of the Participatory Budget.

IMPROVING TOILET FACILITIES FOR CITIZENS AND TOURISTS
Toilets marked throughout the city, accessible to disabled people and with continuous cleaning guaranteed, if paid that the receipt is a discount voucher for a food consumption. When there is a “need” you always find the right place. Visiting and walking around Pinerolo, city of the Cavalleria, at the foot of Monviso, the shared project of toilets, enhances the city making it hospitable. PARKING: A SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE
Create a sustainable parking lot in via Martiri del XXI 110 bis, as a solution to the correct drainage of water and guarantee a parking space for everyone, through the use of ecological and permeable materials, capable of respecting hydraulic invariance and promoting the natural drainage of rainwater. A PARK FOR PINEROLO
At the De Amicis Garden in via Diaz the goal is to clean up the park, prune and plant new hedges, create flowerbeds to be entrusted to nursery gardeners, replace benches, install a fountain, create a fenced dog area and build a small covered pavilion for concerts. In addition, tables for playing chess will be installed. A STAGE FOR EVERYONE

ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
The “Cittadinanza Attiva” project is aimed at secondary school students in Pinerolo, aged between 14 and 19. These young people will be involved in the creation of a center dedicated to childhood and youth, which the Municipal Administration of Pinerolo intends to inaugurate in 2024 at Villa Prever. This center will also include the transfer of the Children’s Library next to the Natural Science Museum. Furthermore, the project foresees the concrete involvement of Pinerolo secondary schools and will be aimed at choosing the names of the center and the Library for girls/boys, the graphic design, the planning and reorganization of the spaces and the creation of activities to help bring the new municipal space to life. ABBADIA PARK PLAYGROUND
The Abbadia Alpina Playground, once very popular due to its proximity to nursery, primary and secondary schools, is now little used because it is no longer attractive or adequately equipped. The idea is to transform it into a lively and inclusive playground, with facilities for all ages (children: swings and slides for their enjoyment, teenagers: a meeting place to socialize and play, adults: space for outdoor physical activity, families: an area to do homework, have a snack or celebrate under the shade of large plants, seniors: areas to chat, play bowls, cards or chess). The “Abbadia Park” project aims to create a playground without architectural barriers, where everyone is welcome. EXPO CAPRILLI
At Cavallerizza Caprilli the proposal revolves around a question that many Pinerolo residents and others ask themselves every time they find themselves in front of Caprilli or have had the pleasure of crossing the threshold of this wonderful structure: why not open it more often and host more events inside? The project attempted to give an immediate answer to this question, without thinking too much about the constraints, without preconceptions and without making too many long-term feasibility projects, simply reopening the space and making it immediately available for events, as it is, with a little extra attention to improve its usability in safety, while waiting for a project worthy of its potential. Voting does not only mean expressing a preference, but also taking an active part in the decision-making process; at the same time, for administrators it is an opportunity to listen to the ideas, needs and aspirations of those who live the reality of Pinerolo on a daily basis, thus contributing to gathering suggestions that will influence decisions of this or the next municipal administration. Finally, this edition brings with it another novelty: the idea that will be the winner of the consultations will be the subject of a further “call” for a collective and participatory planning by all those who want to give their contribution.
PARTICIPATORY BUDGET: THE PROJECTS THAT HAVE WINNED PREVIOUS EDITIONS
The Participatory Budget is a tool of direct democracy that promotes citizen participation in local public policies and, in particular, in decisions regarding the use and allocation of part of the economic resources of the Authority in specific areas and sectors over which the Authority has direct competence. Here are the projects that have been chosen by citizens in previous editions of the Participatory Budget of Pinerolo:
2019 EDITION: fifteen proposals submitted and 1,606 voters. Winner: Parco della Pace: 455 votes (project completed).
2020 EDITION: eight proposals submitted and 5,031 voters. Winner: Parco Sportivo Via
Midana: 1,346 votes (completed project).
2021 EDITION: three proposals presented and 4,426 voters. Winner: Spazio Sport Serena:
2,274 votes (in planning for the awarding of the works).
2022 EDITION: three proposals submitted and 2,210 voters. Winner: A Better Kennel: 1,525 votes (work in progress).
