How to Turn Off Story Notifications on Snapchat: Complete Guide

Snapchat is the best place to show off what you’ve been up to throughout the day by adding a gallery of photos to your Snapchat Story. But those of us who are on the receiving end of things can get a little irritated when our phones start buzzing with a barrage of notifications from our friends adding new stories to the platform. If you’re tired of this and want to turn off Snapchat story notifications, here are a few ways to do it.

Method 1: Turn Off Snapchat Story Notifications for Everyone

Let’s say you want to detox from social media or, like me, you don’t really care about stories. Well, Snapchat has an option to completely turn off all story notifications. This way, you won’t be notified for any stories your friends post on the app. Here are the steps to access it.

1. On Snapchat, tap your Avatars in Bitmoji top left.
2. So, touch the gear icon top right.
3. Inside Settings, open Notifications and sail towards Stories of friends.
4. Here, uncheck the box Stories of friends, Private stories of friendsE Stories from contacts cans.

This way, you can be sure that Snapchat will not bother you with stories posted in your circle.

Method 2: Deactivate Snapchat for Individual Friends

You probably don’t want to turn off all stories, just that one oversharing friend who shares a life update every hour or so on their Snapchat story. Or maybe you want to give someone the silent treatment and don’t want to know when they’ve shared a story. In those cases, you can turn off story notifications for individuals from within the app. Here’s how to do it.

2. Here, long press on the chat of the person whose story notifications you want to mute.

4. Turn off the switch for Story Notifications and tap on Done.

Method 3: Turn off story alerts via Android settings

This method is available on Android only. You can turn off story alerts from Snapchat using Android notification categories. With this, you can silence story notifications even if all the options are enabled within the app, in case you don’t want any of your friends to get suspicious.

1. Long press the button Snapchat icon on your Android phone.
2. Touch the icon iYou will be directed to the app information page in settings.
3. Here, select Notifications.
4. Then turn off the New stories E History Reminder switches.

On OnePlus or other devices, the procedure is slightly different.
