The pinnacle of infamy in the Wizarding World, the Unforgivable Curses are an integral part of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay. We explain how to unlock them.

The game allows you to fully exploit the possibilities offered to wand wielders, even to the less brilliant spells of the wizarding world. Indeed, Unforgivable Curses are an integral part of your character’s adventure, giving you undeniable power without the risk of a one-way ticket to Azkaban. We explain how to unlock them.
To unlock the quest Dark Legacy which will allow you to start looking for the unforgivable spells, you will have to advance in the main quest until you reach the “Welcome to Hogsmeade” section, especially after having defeated the troll attacking the village. Your interactions with Sebastian Sallow will allow you to unlock the Unforgivable Spells quest line, recognizable by their prefix “In the Shadow of…“Also check that you have opened the letters from Sebastian, which marks the beginning of the quest Dark Legacy.
Where to find the Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy?
- sore is the first Unforgivable Curse you will unlock in the quest “In the Shadow of Knowledge“. You will learn the Cruciatus spell there provided that you have previously reached the level 16.. You will have to interact with Sebastian and follow him in a series of quests and micro-dungeons strewn with some puzzles and traps. You will both be accompanied by Ominis Gaunt to discover the fate of Noctua Gaunt.
- Pour Imperiumthe quest “In the Shadow of Time” will appear at the end of your quest to obtain Cruciatus. This quest will take you and Sebastian on the Feldcroft quest. Your path will take you to an ancient crypt where you will find an ancient relic. You must be level 17 to start this quest.
- Finally, the most terrifying but also the most powerful of the three Unforgivable Spells, Open Kedavra, is obtainable through the quest “In the Shadow of the Relic“. This quest is available from level 28, so you will have to wait before completing your terrifying anthology. Also, if you want to increase your level quickly, take a tour of Hogwarts and its surroundings to collect pages from the Field Guide. This small side activity gives you a lot of experience for a minimum of effort.
What are the dangers of Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy?
Unforgivable Curses are quite common in Hogwarts Legacy, or at least their use seems easier than in the Harry Potter universe. your quest Dark Legacy takes you and Sebastian Sallow down a path strewn with pitfalls and at the edge of morality. New dialogue options will appear if you choose to adopt this Dark Magic, and some characters may hold it against you. Also, you can still complete Dark Legacy quests and refuse to learn Unforgivable Spells, so you don’t run out of content even if you want to stay on the good side of magic.
