In the event of a tie in the outcome of the Professional Jury’s vote, the models will be ordered by first considering the vehicle of the brand that obtained the highest number of maximum scores (i.e. 13 points). If this is maintained in the application of the first tie-breaking criterion, the highest number of votes equal to 11 points will be taken into consideration and so on until the tie is broken.
the Notary will record the outcome of the vote on 11 December, assigning the award to a single model.
The ABC Award for the Best Car of the Year will be unique and definitive and will consist of an honorable mention and the delivery of a symbolic physical award, without financial compensation. The awards ceremony will then be organised.
Interview between Time.news Editor, Maria Sanchez, and Automotive Expert, Dr. Javier López
Maria Sanchez: Good morning, Dr. López! Thank you for joining us today to discuss the exciting developments surrounding the ABC Award for Best Car of the Year 2025. With so many impressive vehicles in the running this year, what are your initial thoughts?
Dr. Javier López: Good morning, Maria! It’s a pleasure to be here. I’m thrilled about the array of candidates. With twelve diverse models, this year promises to be a riveting competition. Each contender embodies innovation and craftsmanship, making the selection process particularly challenging yet exciting.
Maria Sanchez: Indeed! The ABC Best Car of the Year award has a rich history, marking its 53rd edition this year. How do you think the legacy of this award influences automotive brands in their design and innovation strategies?
Dr. Javier López: The ABC Award serves as a major benchmark for automotive excellence. Winning this award not only brings prestige but also significantly impacts market visibility and consumer trust. Brands are motivated to push the envelope in design, features, and sustainability to stand out, and it’s great to see how this shapes the entire industry.
Maria Sanchez: Absolutely! The award will be determined by a unique voting system that combines professional and public assessments. Can you explain the significance of this dual approach?
Dr. Javier López: Certainly! Having a professional jury—composed of automotive media experts—offers an authoritative critique based on technical parameters like design and performance. Meanwhile, including the public as a non-professional jury adds a grassroots perspective, reflecting real-world consumer expectations and preferences. It’s this balance that makes the award so compelling and representative of both industry standards and consumer desires.
Maria Sanchez: The upcoming “Festival of the Chosen” will highlight the nominated models, allowing representatives to spark interest in their vehicles. Which candidates are you particularly excited about, and why?
Dr. Javier López: I’m particularly keen on the Alfa Romeo Junior and the Citroën C3, especially the ë-C3 electric variant. The former embodies the brand’s passionate styling paired with a modern twist, while the latter showcases Citroën’s commitment to sustainability through electric mobility. Each has the potential to resonate strongly with their target consumers.
Maria Sanchez: Speaking of sustainability, how important do you think electric and hybrid models are in this year’s competition?
Dr. Javier López: They are crucial! With the growing trend toward environmental consciousness, electric and hybrid models are no longer just a niche but are becoming mainstream. Their presence in this competition highlights how automakers are responding to pressing climate issues while also appealing to a new wave of car buyers who prioritize eco-friendliness. This evolution in the market is exciting and necessary.
Maria Sanchez: Very insightful! From November 14th to the end of the month, readers will have the opportunity to participate in the voting process. How does encouraging public participation enhance the overall credibility of the award?
Dr. Javier López: Engaging readers creates a sense of community and ownership over the award. It ensures that the winning vehicle resonates not only with jurors but with actual users. As cars are part of daily life, the insight from everyday drivers adds another layer of legitimacy to the judging process.
Maria Sanchez: Lastly, Dr. López, can you share what you believe will be the key qualities that the successful candidate must demonstrate to clinch this esteemed title?
Dr. Javier López: The winning car must excel in multiple areas: innovative design, efficient performance, user-friendly technology, and exceptional value for money. In today’s market, adaptability to trends, such as electric power and connectivity, could also be decisive. Ultimately, it comes down to how well the car aligns with the evolving expectations of consumers and the industry.
Maria Sanchez: Thank you for those thoughtful analyses, Dr. López! We look forward to seeing how this year’s competition unfolds and which model takes home the prestigious ABC Award for Best Car of the Year 2025.
