He MotoGP World Cup gave the starting gun to its 75th edition with the Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimao, where the Italian Francis Bagnaia won the first victory of the season, followed by the catalan Maverick Viñales and the Italian Marco Bezzecchi. This coming weekend he will continue the fight for the championship with his second round at the Argentine Grand Prix.
The first weekend was marked by the Spanish pilot Marc Márquez, who fought for victory during the first laps, until in the third lap He tried to overtake his compatriot Jorge Martín on the inside, but he went wide and charged into the local Miguel Oliveira, ending both on the ground. This act cost the Honda driver a penalty with a double ‘long lap’, although he will not be able to complete it because he underwent surgery on his right hand and will not be able to race in Argentina. The Portuguese Oliveira will also be out of the competition this weekend due to injuries sustained after the fall.
Despite the absence of these two drivers, the rest, together with the twelve teams, will fight another weekend to win first place at the next circuit. Among the favorites to win the title are Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) o Francis Bagnaia (Ducati), in addition to Marc Márquez (Honda), who hopes to join the competition in the following circuit.
In Spain, the pilots will be able to face each other in the three circuits, of the four in total that there are, that have a world event: the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalonia in Montmelóthe Ricardo Torno of Cheste in the Valencian Community and the circuit of angel grandson in Jerez de la Frontera, the Spanish Grand Prix par excellence.
