«Urba-NAture», Balneolis wins. Two other award-winning projects
of R. C.
IS Balneolis and the new felix season the winning project of UrbaNAture, the international competition of ideas, curated by Invitalia, to define the new landscape layout of the entire former Italsider area of Bagnoli, including the large urban park covering 120 hectares of the 250 total.
The winning projects, presented yesterday by Invitalia with the commissioner Francesco Floro Flores and the deputy mayor of Naples with responsibility for urban planning Carmine Piscopo, have outlined some possible scenarios of the new Bagnoli. Within 30 days of the announcement, the winner must deliver the volumetric plan of the project idea which completes the detailed parameters of the interventions (shapes of the buildings, heights and footprint on the ground) and which, once approved by the Services Conference, will be an integral part of the regulations urban planning. This will allow, therefore, to complete the process of defining the urban planning discipline of the Bagnoli area, making the subsequent regeneration of the area possible.
A commission of experts indicated by the Campania Region, the Municipality of Naples, the Order of Conservative Landscape Architects Planners of Naples and the Province and Invitalia, evaluated the 17 proposed projects, decreeing the first 3 classified who win a prize pool of 325,000 euros: 150,000 to the first ranked, 100,000 to the second and 75,000 to the third. Now a phase of listening to the territory will begin to favor its inclusion through a path already started during the elaboration of the Environmental Remediation and Urban Regeneration Program (Praru).

Here’s what the new Bagnoli will look like
The first place is a grouping of 12 subjects led by Studio Bargone Architetti Associati (agent). The project – of which we publish the images on the page – tells of the return to the ideal of “Campania felix”. It is divided into three different areas: the natural park, with the recovery of naturalness and an ecological network that links the sea to the hills; the productive forest, with the return to tree cultivation of ancient and native species; the urban park closest and most functional to the residential area and to the new buildings that will be located here.
Second place, with the project Argatella, the spinning wheel to weave the city, is a grouping of 4 subjects: Main Management and Ingegneria Srl (agent), Art & Build Architectes Selarl, Signes Sas, Fabrizio Pisani Massamormile. Third place is a grouping that reconfigures the Coroglio landscape in a unified way. The grouping consists of: Rti Constituting Francesco Cellini (agent), Insula Architettura e Ingegneria Srl, Geosystem Studio Associato di Geologia e Design
“Today we are experiencing a strategic transition, the Neapolitans will finally be able to understand what Bagnoli will be in the next few years”.
