Technology markets reacted swiftly to hardware announcements as HP Inc. expanded its high-performance computer push shares advanced Friday after the company expanded its computer lineup with AI-focused OmniBook models. The stock rose 1.61% to $32.44 after recovering from morning losses and holding most afternoon gains.
OmniBook Ultra 16 Brings Desktop-Class Power to Laptops
First previewed at Computex in June, the new lineup features specifications tailored for developers, creators, and entrepreneurs tackling complex projects. The HP OmniBook Ultra 16 powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark delivers the performance, scale, and immersive experiences required for ambitious workloads. Configurations for developers and creators working at scale include up to 128 GB of unified memory and up to one petaflop of FP4 AI performance, designed to enable larger open-source and open-weight models.
To sustain demanding computing tasks without thermal throttling, the system incorporates a specialized thermal layout. According to engineering disclosures, the device features “HP’s first consumer tower hinge and trunk architecture maximizes airflow and heat dissipation in an exceptionally thin premium design. Combined with larger heat pipes and dual ultra-thin fans, the system is designed to support sustained AI development, creative production, and emerging agentic workloads,” opening up sustained performance profiles in a portable chassis.
Display, Mobility, and Battery Performance in the OmniBook X 14
Visuals and mobility take center stage across the expanded portfolio. The larger OmniBook Ultra 16 is equipped with a 16-inch 3K OLED display featuring VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification, paired with quad speakers driven by smart amplifiers. For mobile power, it relies on a 99 Wh battery delivering up to 17 hours of operation under stated conditions, with fast charging capable of restoring about 50% capacity in approximately 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, the OmniBook X 14 brings computing features into a smaller portable design for users who move fluidly between work, creativity, and entertainment. The 14-inch model offers up to 15 hours of battery life and utilizes a 140W USB-C GaN adapter to support fast charging away from fixed locations, reaching 50% charge in roughly 30 minutes.
Expanding Beyond Laptops With the Upcoming OmniDesk
Beyond portable form factors, the manufacturer outlined its upcoming desktop strategy. The OmniDesk extends HP’s desktop push, offering a compact desktop designed to keep long-running AI agents and background processes active even when users step away from their workstations.
Commercial rollout timelines are already taking shape for the rest of the year. HP expects the OmniBook Ultra 16 to reach HP.com and Best Buy during the fall, with the OmniBook X 14 launching concurrently through official channels and retail partners. Pricing details and final hardware specifications for the OmniDesk remain unannounced as the company prepares for its commercial release.
