Four former TVB child stars have sparked widespread nostalgia across social media after sharing a photograph taken 12 years ago, showcasing how their lives and careers have evolved since leaving the spotlight.
For generations of television viewers in Hong Kong, the familiar faces of young actors provided the emotional core of many classic dramas. A recent social media post by former child actor Huang Keying brought four of those recognizable performers back into the public eye by publishing a snapshot from 12 years ago. The compilation clip paired their childhood television appearances with current updates, prompting widespread audience engagement and prompting fans to recall the classic series that defined their youth.
Huang Keying and the Transition to Musical and Pop Performance
Huang Keying, who also performs under the name Melanie, began her career in front of the cameras at just five years of age and recently stepped into a new musical venture as a member of the girl group IdG Sundae. Her extensive television résumé includes roles in Why is Sir Sir.
Viewers frequently remember her tearful portrayal of the young version of Hu Xing’er’s character in Beyond the Realm of Conscience: Die Xue Chang Tian, as well as her challenging work in the medical drama The Doctors Under the Starry Sky as a teenage pregnancy character named Xu Jiaxue. Beyond her acting credits, she has attained a Grade 8 piano certification from the Royal Schools of Music.
Academic Pursuits and Fading Screen Appearances for Chen Zile and Liang Weixin
While Huang pursued musical performance, fellow child star Chen Zile shifted his primary focus away from the entertainment industry and toward his education. Having started acting at age five, Chen accumulated over 40 television and film credits, gaining recognition for memorable roles such as Lung Chai in The Hippocratic Crush and portraying an autistic child in Deadly Confession alongside actor Guo Jin'an.
Similarly, Liang Weixin stepped away from the screen following her appearance in the 2017 production Oh My Grad. Best known for portraying the young Yao Jinling in Beyond the Realm of Conscience and the young Situ Yinping in Princess on Board, the 23-year-old maintains a low public profile today while earning praise from online commentators for her enduring appearance.
Lu Songheng Pivots from Early Television to Professional Fencing
Among the group, Lu Songheng took a distinctly athletic path after completing his university education. The 25-year-old previously appeared in a variety of television projects, including Radio Television Hong Kong dramas such as Gambling Sea where he worked alongside veteran actress Fan Yimin, with whom he has maintained a close, family-like bond over the years.
Choosing sports over a continued career in entertainment, Lu transitioned into a professional fencing coach after finishing his degree, leaving his acting days behind to establish a completely different career trajectory.
