Huawei is moving up its Mate 90 smartphone rollout to October 1, 2026, dropping the series nearly two months earlier than recent generations.
Huawei Mate 90 Series Launch Date and Tiered Processor Architecture
Huawei officially announced that its brand-new Mate 90 series will be released on October 1, 2026, accompanied by a warm-up video on September 29, 2026. This October launch marks a return to Huawei’s traditional autumn schedule. Both the Mate 70 and Mate 80 series arrived in November during 2024 and 2025 respectively, pushed back from their usual September-to-October window due to chip supply constraints. Improving chip production has allowed Huawei to move the Mate 90 forward, capturing crucial market time during the peak buying months of the busy premium smartphone season.
The four-model lineup relies on a tiered chip setup. The standard Huawei Mate 90 runs on the Kirin 9030, while the Mate 90 Pro steps up to the Kirin 9035 — both carried over from the Mate 80 generation. Meanwhile, the Mate 90 Pro Max and the Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design introduce Huawei’s advanced Kirin 9050 Pro.
The Kirin 9050 Pro marks a major engineering pivot as the first commercial mobile chipset to use Huawei’s LogicFolding architecture.

Design Renders and Display Specifications Across All Four Models
Official-looking renders shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo reveal that all four models in the Mate 90 lineup retain a three punch-hole layout at the top of the display. These cutouts house the selfie camera and sensors for 3D face recognition, a design approach Huawei established with the Mate 60 series in 2023 and expanded to all four models with the Mate 80 generation.
The displays feature flat panels with rounded corners, thin bezels, and flatter sides that create a sleeker profile than previous Mate generations. The Mate 90 Pro features a 6.75-inch dual-layer OLED display, while the Mate 90, Mate 90 Pro Max, and Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design step up to a larger 6.9-inch flat dual-layer OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and LTPO technology.
A back-design review shows distinct styling for the top-tier models. The Mate 90 Pro Max, shown in green, pink, white, and black, features a back split into two sections: a larger upper part with a fine ridged texture holding a big circular camera module with central XMAGE branding, and a smaller smooth lower section carrying the Huawei logo. By contrast, the Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design features a high-gloss titanium unibody chassis in White, Black, and Red, swapping the circular module for an octagonal camera housing and a raised strip running down the center with Ultimate Design
printed along it.
Camera Capabilities and the Leaked Ruiying Z10 Modular Accessory
Camera hardware varies significantly across the lineup. The Mate 90 Pro Max and RS variants elevate imaging further with a primary rear camera rated at 18EV of dynamic range and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. The Pro Max also supports a 1-inch sensor with up to 10x optical zoom.

Alongside the phone hardware, Huawei’s warm-up video teased an unexpected addition: an external modular camera accessory known as the Ruiying Z10. Leaks from tipsters Bald Panda and Smart Pikachu on Weibo detailed the module ahead of the launch. The accessory operates more like an interchangeable camera module than a conventional smartphone lens attachment.
The Ruiying Z10 module features its own 1-inch sensor, a 9.1–91mm physical focal length equivalent to 24–240mm, a motorized zoom mechanism, Huawei’s Red Maple lens system, and a variable f/2.0–f/4.5 aperture.
Pricing Expectations and Regional Availability
Rumoured pricing for the lineup starts around Rs. 85,000 for the base model and climbs past Rs. 1,85,000 for the RS Ultimate Design. For shoppers in India, the devices are expected to be available through Easy EMIs via Bajaj Finance across partner stores and cities if the phones reach the domestic market. However, Huawei has not yet confirmed pricing, exact configuration availability, or release dates for regions outside China, leaving international launch timelines uncertain as the October 1 launch event approaches.
