The Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro (for price comparison) excels in all aspects of operation. The battery stands out particularly: when using the smartwatch in watch mode – without active GPS and activity tracking, but with the display constantly on – we achieve a runtime of 136 hours, which is about five and a half days. In everyday use, when you don’t constantly look at the display, even more is possible. Huawei promises nine days with typical usage.
At the time of testing, only the Huawei Watch GT 4 (for testing) lasts longer in our smartwatch ranking: it lasts an additional five hours. We tested the 46-mm model of the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro. The smaller 42-mm model also has a smaller battery and therefore a slightly shorter runtime. Our large test model was also tested with active tracking and GPS. Here, the runtime is around 30 hours.
The OLED display is of high quality, our test model measures 1.43 inches diagonally, while the smaller version has a 1.32-inch display. This is clearly readable even in sunlight and offers an always-on function. You control it with a touchscreen, a button, and a rotating crown – and if needed, with voice control. For that, you need a paired Huawei smartphone. The casing is high quality: titanium for the large version, ceramic for the small smartwatch.
