AGI – China’s Huawei will launch the HarmonyOS mobile operating system next week, developed after losing access to Android due to US sanctions. This was reported by the Chinese media citing a message published by the official account on Weibo – the Chinese equivalent of Twitter – in which a presentation event is announced on 2 June.

HarmonyOS, called Hongmeng in Chinese, had already been launched for other types of devices such as tablets or “wearables” in August 2019. The company expects over 300 million devices to run on HarmonyOS by the end of this year, of which approximately a third – specifies the Xinhua news agency – would be devices from other companies that would incorporate it as an operating system.
